At Young Lives vs Cancer, we help families find the strength to face whatever cancer throws at them. But every day 12 more children and young people hear the devastating news they have cancer. We’ll face it all together – but we can’t do it without you. Visit www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk

Story

Many thanks for visiting our fundraising page! We are also raising money for Community Links. That page can be visited at http://www.justgiving.com/normanmoytrio

The band

The Norman Moy Trio was formed through friend and family connections. Norman has been a professional musician for over 5O years, having started his career in London during the 1950s and remains active on the Scottish jazz scene. Adam and Norman have played jazz together for many years. Matt is married to Adam's wife's best friend since school days and Seb Rochford was godson of Norman's late wife Doreen. Hence "Close connection", the name of our CD.

The Norman Moy Trio was formed 5 years ago playing at various London venues, gigs and functions. We decided to record a CD of some of our favourite tunes as a bit of fun and better still Seb agreed to play with us! Seb is an established leader on the London and European jazz circuits and a much in demand drummer having played in many jazz and other groups, including leading his own "Polar Bear".

Close Connection

As the project grew, we decided to mark the event by giving it a charitable focus and donating the CD proceeds to charity. Adam had been wanting to combine his love of jazz with a worthwhile cause. Doreen, his mother died of cancer in 2002 and her best friend, Anne Rochford died of cancer in 1991. Doreen was an active volunteer with Aberdeen Social Work, caring for young teenage mums with babies; Anne had ten children of her own (including Seb!). Given this background, the charitable aims and history of CLIC Sargent seemed a perfect fit, combining caring for children with cancer with a musical heritage through the Malcolm Sargent House.

We hope you enjoy our music and thank you VERY much for donating.

Gift Aid

If you are donating in return for a CD we, unfortunately, cannot claim Gift Aid. When you reach the following question in the donation process "Are you donating in return for a ticket to an event/raffle/auction?" please click 'Yes.'  This will disable the Gift Aid part of the donation.

CD Launch

We are launching the CD at 8pm on Wed 13 May at St Martin's within Ludgate Church, Ludgate Hill, London (nearest tube St Pauls). Please visit our MySpace page at the following address to hear some of the tracks from the album.
