Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon · 12 October 2008 ·

READ International addresses the lack of educational resources in schools in Tanzania, creating libraries and supporting young people in skills and capacity development. To date we have sent 1.5 millions books to East Africa and created 94 secondary school libraries.

Story

All 4 permanent staff at READ International; Rob, Rose, Tanya and Leila, have reluctantly agreed to run the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon on 12th October, 2008 to kick start the fundraising for the next READ financial year.

The team would like to fund an entire 20ft container full of 25,000 books - that's £12,000 between us.  This is not an easy target, so we need your help!

We would like each of you to give generously to this great cause.  And to make it more fun we're giving you the chance to pick a team outfit.  Whoever makes the largest bid can pick the outfit.  Ideas thrown around so far include running as Massai Warriors, running as books, running naked (not going to happen as no-one wants to see that!).

Your donation will count as your bid and in the comments column pick a team outfit suggestion.  If you like an idea already put forward then just write VOTE 'then whatever the suggestion is' (it's just like the X Factor only more exciting).  The only rule is that we all have to run in the same outfit - but preferably not tied together as Rob will slow the team down!

You all know a bit about READ International already right?  You can go to www.readinternational.org.uk to find out more.
