We are Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance, a charity providing critical medical care by land and air, across our communities. We’re here when you need us most. But we can’t do this without your help. As a registered charity, we rely entirely on donations and support from our local communities.

Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. I was hoping that I might have been be able to run in the Bath Half Marathon this Sunday (7th March) using a friend's entry the but unfortunately I can't now do this. However having got myself psyched up to run a half marathon I'm keen to follow through with it somehow.

So I came up with a plan to do an alternative half marathon on the same day and time as the official event - ie. Sunday 7th March at 11am. I've done the Bath Half three times before (best time 1 hour 40 mins), but not for quite a few years, and because it's a spur of the moment decision I haven't done any specific training for it, however I do 5-10 mile cross country runs with our dog on a regular basis so I'm hoping I should be ok! The course starts at the canal at Lower Limply Stoke, goes into the centre of Bath to the east and north of the River Avon, and then returns along the canal back to the starting point.

You'll be able to follow my progress live here (http://runkeeper.com/user/timpent/activities) once I've started running, thanks to the great iPhone app, RunKeeper Pro. Feel free to text me (07905 271114) encouraging messages as I go round, but don't expect a reply :-)

Anyway, I'm going to try to raise a bit of money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a charity I tried to support a few years ago but couldn't because of an injury to my ankle. For those free-flyers reading this you'll need no explanation of why this is a great charity to give to, but if you're not familiar with it take a few moments to look at www.wiltshireairambulance.co.uk. It operates as joint project with the Wiltshire Police who pay £1m of the annual £1.5m operating costs. The remaining £500,000 is solely funded by public donations.

It'd be great if you could donate a few quid - fingers crossed you'll never need it yourself, but you never know...

Thanks

Tim
