Story

Hello you lovely, lovely people and thankyou for just taking a small portion of your time to visit our Justgiving page, and find out more about our venture.

Basically, on the 9 June 2009, Dom (left) and Kini (right) will be taking part in a charity event called Jailbreak, which is run on through student charity Karnival at the University of Nottingham.  The aim of the event is to get as far away from the university campus in 36 hours, without spending any money, and keeping within the event guidelines.

We are raising as much money to spur us on our quest to the far corners of our one and only Planet Earth, and this is where you come in!  The money we are raising is being split between the Alzheimer's Society, and also Childreach International.  Both of these are selected charities by Karnival, and we are hoping to raise as much as possible from as many different angles.

So, I hear you ask?  Why only a target of £50?  This is purely as we need to ensurewe reach our minimum donation target, to take part in the event.  However there are other ways you can donate, if this is easier for you.  IF WE GET CLOSE TO OUR TARGET WE WILL KEEP INCREASING IT! :D

We currently have a Facebook group set up, to give some more information about what we are doing, and you can write your name in the discussion group there if you wish to sponsor.  This doesn't even have to be a flat donation - as we have a few people sponsoring us 1p per mile, or 1p per 10miles.  It's really up to you!!!  Please check our Facebook group out at:

You can also track our progress in our updated blog (which we will try to do over the 36 hours on Kini's iPhone) at:

Finally, a bit about who we are raising for.  Here in the East Midlands there are over 54,000 people with dementia and it is predicted that this figure will rise to 71,000 by 2017. There are 13 branches and support groups offering advocacy services, carer support groups, befriending schemes, day care and counselling amongst other vital services. The Society relies on the generosity of the public and organisations to ensure they can continue caring for people affected by dementia. It costs over £1.5million to provide support services for people living with dementia in the East Midlands which is why supporting Karnival's Jail Break is so important. Your donation is truly invaluable.

Thankyou for taking the time to read about our event, and if possible, donate to a truly worthy cause!

Much love, from those guys in Notts,

Kini and Dom x
