Story
Dear family, friends and colleagues,
As many of you are already aware, I lost a very close family member earlier this year to breast cancer. Cancer is a disease that has touched so many of our lives, but when it affects someone in their 30s with a very young family, it makes it even harder to deal with. So when my sister-in-law was losing her battle with breast cancer, life was hard to say the least. During her last days of life, caring for her and making sure she was comfortable, while supporting her 4-year-old daughter, her husband (my brother) and her parents was harder than I could ever imagine. St Luke’s Hospice is where Katy spent the last week of her life; and without the hospice facilities and support of its staff, I just don’t know how we would have managed. This organisation relies heavily on fundraising as the Government provides only a small portion of the money to keep its doors open. Katy and all of us were so well looked after by the Hospice; and I feel even if the money I raise could help only one other family at similarly difficult times, then it’s been worth all the effort. I am therefore running the HALF MARATHON on 10th October in memory of Katy and hope to raise as much money for the Hospice as possible. Please support me in helping all the adults and children who use the facilities of St Luke’s Hospice.
