Story
Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, I really appreciate it, please read on.
On the 4th October I successfully completed the Lock Ness Marathon. I happy to report than despite it being quite a challenging course I managed to improve my previous marathon time by 20 minutes, my finishing time was 4 Hours 35 minutes.
I had planned to just take part in this event, and keep it a low key affair but the NSPCC TV advert really got to me, I mean to my core. As a father of two wonderful girls, the idea that children should have to grow up in harm and fear was alien to me, so I felt I should do something for this great charity. Running a marathon and raising money and their profile seemed the best way to do something.
So what about the NSPCC. Well for starters they are the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. They run Childline, the 24 Hour helpline for children in danger or distress and the NSPCC helpline, which offers information, advice and counselling to anyone concerned about a child's safety.
87 percent of their income comes from voluntary donations, meaning that they can't achieve any of their work without our help. Whatever money you can spare as part of the team supporting me will help the NSPCC and the children they take care of.
Donating through JustGiving is very simple, very fast and totally secure.
So please dig deep and donate now whatever you can.
Thanks so much!
Richard
