Story
I'm delighted to report that I've got the T-shirt and the flash medal! I completed the 2004 Flora London Marathon on April 18 in 4 hours 22 minutes and two seconds (4:22:02) - a new PB (personal best) by a couple of minutes.
For those who like stats, I was the 16,424th to finish overall and 2,822nd woman. I also ran a "negative split" - which means I ran the second half faster than the first half, something considered a Good Thing in running circles, so I'm pretty chuffed about that.
Taking part in the UK's flagship road race was a tremendous
experience and the support was fantastic - it was brilliant to see so many folk out on the streets right along the route despite the rain.
Will I do it again? Another marathon - for sure. Another London
- mmm, watch this space.
Meanwhile, many, many thanks to everyone who sponsored me so generously for the NUJ's Members in Need fund - and thanks too for all the messages of support. Eugenie
