No Gain without Rain...
Well, the good news is I managed to complete, so your generous contributions were worthwhile. The bad news is that the left ankle, twisted in training about five weeks ago, flared up, making the last eight miles even more gruesome than usual.
No lasting damage, other than to my time, which was a 'personal worst' of just over five and a half hours!
Thanks to my dogged damp family for turning out to cheer me on, and thanks to everyone else who shouted, played music, and offered sweets. As ever, a great day out. I crossed the line with one of the Rhinos but another one made an amazing sprint finish about thirty seconds in front of me. I think I beat one of the caterpillars and a Womble.
I'm not doing another Marathon for a very long time - perhaps a year.
Thanks again for your support. It makes the hobbling worthwhile...
Rob
