Our personal message:

Cycling from London to Sydney may sound like a rather crazy idea! Especially since you can fly there fairly quickly these days! So when we mentioned the trip to friends their reply was "so you're going to cycle to Heathrow Airport, jump on a plane to Australia and cycle from the airport to the centre of Sydney", then they fell about the floor in hysterical laughter...

...then we said we were going to do the trip on recumbent bikes (or 'bents' as they are affectionately known). No trains, no buses, no hitching, no support vehicles. Only us... four wheels, strong determination... and the horizon!!

Our trip is completely self-funded, so any help you can give towards our equipment list would be very welcome. Please visit our main website www.nutsonbents.com for more information.

Setting off Sunday, 31st July 2005 - Trafalgar Square, London

We will start our journey from London which will take us through Europe into Turkey (where we will cross into Asia), Iran, India, the Far East and finally into Australia. Our goal is to complete the trip in one year and raise £50,000 for our chosen charities (Cancer Research UK and BBC Children in Need). Ambitious!! Who, Us?? The Facts * Distance 25,000 kilometers approximately (17,000 miles) * Continents: 3 - Europe, Asia and Oceania (The continent formerly known as Australasia) * Countries: 15 * Time Zones: 11 * Average distance to cycle per day: 110-160 Kilometers (70-100 miles) * Average cycling time per day: 6-8 Hours * Average days cycling per week: 6 Days * Accommodation: Under canvas/Hospitality of people we meet en route Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
