Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor the team online.

We did it!!

A team of amateur cyclists who all work in the Emergency Control Centre for the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (Greater Manchester Area)  completed a 14 day, 'end to end' 1014.2 mile Land's End to John O'Groats cycle tour to raise money and awareness for the North West Air Ambulance (NWAA).

The North West Air Ambulance is a unique regional medical air emergency service covering Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria.

Established in 1999, the NWAA is a registered charity receiving no mainstream funding, yet it offers a vital service seven days a week, 365 days a year across 5,500 square miles serving a residential population of seven million.

The team includes David Burton (cyclist), James Bull (cyclist), Danny Vegas (cyclist), Nick Davies (cyclist), Paul Massey (cyclist), Chris Harrison (cyclist), Carlos Cordero (cyclist), Railton Hirst (support crew days 1 to 14), John North (support crew days 1 to 7) and Adam Williams (support crew days 7 to 14).

Land's End to John o' Groats is an epic journey. The journey involves the traversal of the whole of the island of Great Britain from southwest to northeast (as roughly shown in the above map). Land's End, our starting point is the extreme south-westward (but not southern or western) point of Great Britain, situated in western Cornwall at the end of the Penwith Peninsula. John o' Groats, our finishing point is the traditionally acknowledged extreme northern point of Scotland, in north-eastern Caithness. (The actual northern-most at nearby Dunnet Head).

We wiere on the road from the 02/08/2008 to the 15/08/2008 covering approx 72 miles per day and camping along the way.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the team: North West Air Ambulance will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

We aim to try and raise at least £2,000.00 but would love to raise more and help the NWAA as much as we can!!

So please sponsor the team now!

Many thanks for your support.

Big love from the entire NWAS end2end team
