Story

Hello all,

So, I have thought about running a half marathon for sometime....usually after a few pints. At the age of 34, i think i had better do it sooner rather than later....so I have entered the "Royal Parks Half Marathon 2009."  (For more info go to: http://www.royalparkshalf.com)

So the aim is to raise £500 - yes its quite a lot in these times of the credit crunch and economic stagnation. Therefore, I thought that if YOU are (hopefully) willing to depart with your hard-earned cash - then surely I should also make some concession. Now, some people believe (me included!!!) that running 13.1 miles (that's 21.0824064 kilometres) IS a concession...but I know you lot will want your pound of flesh for a pound of cash. The 13.1 miles will be run around London - through parks, Westminster, Blackfriars, admiralty arch (please click here for the map: http://www.royalparkshalf.com/runners/race-details/route-map/), so I will be in full glare of the general public...so here is the deal:

"I - Owen Haskins - promise to run round London - in a MANKINI - yes, that’s right a Mankini...all 13.1 miles...IF...and only if....by 12.00am on 11th October 2009...I have raised £500.01 or more." A lime green mankini is the current favourite - although I will consider recommendations....such as pink...or even leopard skin!

To prove I have run the race in a Mankini, pictures/videos will be taken on the day and made available (via Facebook) or emailed to all concerned. The Charity I am running for is called "Addaction" (for more info go to: http://www.addaction.org.uk). If you are kind enough to donate, please make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Anyway – I’d better get training (less than two months to go)....they say you should train with your racing gear on - so your body gets used to it...hmmmmm…

Regards,

OH
