For those of you that don't know, Alice is a member of this centre, not as a volunteer but as a patient and the centre is a tremendous help to her. They assist with such things as physio, various drug free therapies, advice and support to both patients and their family members etc, to enable her and people like her to live life that little bit easier.
In order to raise cash for the centre,. which costs an inordinate amount to run, 3 of us are driving / coaxing /(dragging) / an old banger to Switzerland and back as part of the urban rally (find out more at www.urbanallstarrally.co.uk). You can sponsor us per mile or half mile (It's about 1500 miles so £10 per mile would be good - Just kiddin) or just chuck a load of cash in the 'donate now' box and keep an eye on the site to see pictures.
I know I am blessed in my life with health, luck, life, love and much more and due to this BOTH Alice and I like to give back a little bit to a varying amount of charities, whenever, wherever and however we can. With that in mind, I thought it's about time that I gave back a little bit more of my time and energy to my wonderful wife, for her centre, just like she did with her 'very brave' skydive last year, so that she and others can continue to use, and be supported by, the Chiltern centre.
In order to do this, my team and I, Paul and Jem, are involved in a charity Rally to Switzerland, with the catch that we have to accomplish this in an old banger (total cost £200). The rally is 1500 miles long and we have to drive, nurse and possibly even drag the car there and back again in order to complete the rally. The event is run by the company designing my web site so please visit the site (above) to see what we are doing and how we are doing it. We also have to decorate the car so I'll keep the site posted with photo's as we progress. (you might have to open them up to see them).
As previously stated, it costs a lot of money to run the Chilterns MS centre, which treats in excess of 250 people each week, who have this debilitating disease.
