We fund research and provide support to improve blood cancer patients' lives

Story

We are doing this ride to raise money for Trinity Hospice in memory of a very close friend. We are also raising money for non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Research. In 2012 James' Sister Lorraine was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was able to take advantage of new pioneering treatment but this treatment is particularly expensive so the Old Boys Cycling Team would like to generate as much money as possible in order that others might benefit.  Unfortunately Lorraine has now had a relapse and her battle continues, which has made us more determined than ever to help her and other people suffering from this terrible disease.

Half of the funds raised will go to Trinity Hospice in Blackpool in memory of a dear friend, Viv Bonsor, who sadly lost her battle to cancer in November 2011. Trinity do a wonderful job and help a lot of families through very difficult times.

Between 26/06/14 - 28/06/14 a team of 8 friends will ride 170 miles from Scarborough Jetty to Blackpool North Pier to raise money for this life saving research. For most in the group this is a 'real' challenge and we have spent months training.  I hope you will show your generosity and support these very worthwhile causes and maybe come down to Noth Pier on Saturday 28/06/14 to see us cross the finish line!

Please, please, please share this with all your friends and ask them to share with their friends so that as many people donate and help us achieve our goal!

The Team: James Cheal, Greg McEvoy, Aidan McEvoy, Mike Croft, Ian Horsfall, Mick O'Brien, Mark Trent, Craig Duerden and our support driver Steve Redman.
