Our beautiful twins Maily & Aston SMITH were born on 16th June 2009 at 23weeks. Too premature to survive this world, and so after a very short time with us they died leaving a long lasting impression on our lives.

SANDS (Still Birth & Neonatal Death Society) has been, and still is, an amazing support to us, and because of this group not only have we been able to come to terms with the tragic loss of our twins, but we have also made some wonderful friends, who have all suffered such a loss.

The monies raised will be split between National SANDS who fund research into baby deaths, and our local Oldham SANDS, who are putting money towards a new SANDS Unit within the new maternity ward at Oldham Hospital. This will allow parents whose babies die, to have a unit of their own, where they can spend some quality time with their babies, rather than be on the maternity unit with expectant or new parents and babies.
