Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Cancer can affect anyone no matter how young/fit or healthy you are. I was 22, fit/healthy when I had a malignant tumour operated on (Teratoma...Lance Armstrong type!) and removed. This followed with 8 yrs of routine blood tests, chest X-rays and CT scans at Derriford Hospital. I was then given the all clear and I was lucky that it was caught early and didn't require any chemotherapy. The oncology dept at Derriford were amazing particularly the receptionists who I got to know well in my times visiting.
That experience sort of shaped my outlook for making the most of opportunities in my life, especially in tackling endurance events. It started off with running half marathons and now 50 plus marathons, 3 Ironman triathlons and many ultra marathons later ,I still have the desire for new challenges!
The double Marathon will start at 4:30am on Sunday the 20th November. Running will be in the dark with head torch light for the first few hours. Mark and I hope to complete the first 26.2 miles in 5 hours giving us around 30 minutes rest before the main marathon starts. The furthest both of us have run on road is 34 miles in the Dartmoor Discovery race therefore this will be a real battle to keep going! Your support will make a huge difference.
