Story
Hi,
Here I am back again running the 2009 London Marathon, this year for The Stroke Association!
Most people who know me will know that my grandfather, Fred Passed away just before last years race, after suffering for many months as the result of a stroke. So I decided to put on the running shoes again, In memory of one of my best friends.
Strokes are now Britains third biggest killer, every year 150,000 people have a stroke. Strokes are also the leading cause of disability in Britain with over 250,000 people are disabled as a result of a stroke.
Thanks Alot for visiting this site, theres plenty more information on what I'm doing at www.oliversmith.org.uk. please sponsor me whatever you can because this is an amazing cause and is in great need of funds. Just giving is the easiest way of sponsoring me for the charity and for you as the money is paid directly into the stroke associations bank account.
Thanks for your contiued support, you guys really are the greatest, wish me luck and I'll see you at the finish line!!
Oliver Smith
If you suspect that someone is having a stroke act FAST
FAST requires an assessment of three specific symptoms of stroke:
Facial weakness - can the person smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped?
Arm weakness - can the person raise both arms?
Speech problems - can the person speak clearly and understand what you say?
