Founded in 1982 by leukaemia patient Lester Cazin, Leuka (formerly known as Leuka 2000) is a registered charity dedicated to raising funds to support research into the causes and treatment of leukaemia at London's Hammersmith Hospital. At the forefront of clinical and scientific advances for the past thirty years, the specialist unit at the Hammersmith already has an international reputation for excellence and innovation.

My story

Buzz Buzz... I'm riding on THE FIREFLIES RIDE 2009..........The Fireflies Ride is a gruelling 1000 km cycle from Geneva to Cannes over 8 days taking in some spectacular mountain climbs in the French Alps..........The Fireflies Ride firstly in search of the rare native marmot, and secondly and quite frankly more importantly to raise money for the charity Leuka. Leuka is dedicated to raising money for the haematology unit at the Catherine Lewis Centre at the Hammersmith Hospital. The unit undertakes research into the causes and treatment of leukaemia - the model of all cancers. They believe that achieving a greater understanding of leukaemia will help in the fight of all forms of cancer. So please dig deep and help The Fireflies get over the Mountains with your encouragement and support by donating as much as you can to Leuka..........The Fireflies Ride is financed by the riders - your donations go directly to Leuka..........Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.
