Action for M.E. works to end the ignorance, injustice and neglect people with M.E. experience. Our children's services offer support and information to children and young people with M.E., their families and carers carrying on the vital work of AYME, the Association of Young People with M.E.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

When I was 14 I became very ill with ME and was left housebound for about 2 years. I left school with a single GCSE (a D in maths), however with the help and support of the AYME (and many other people) I slowly made progress and have now got an undergraduate degree in AI & Computer Science as well as a Masters in Natural Computation and I'm now about to embark upon a trip around SE Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and the states. These are things I never thought I would have the opportunity to do when I was at my worst so I felt I had to make some effort to raise some money for a charity that does a lot of good work for young people with ME.

I decided to do something whilst I was travelling that people could sponsor me for. So whilst I'm away I'm not going to shave (I'm away for approximately 5 months) and have a beard that will no doubt make air travel a fun experience towards the end of my trip. However if you don't feel that is worthy of donating money towards I also want sponsorship to do a bungee jump in New Zealand, or you could just sponsor me to travel.

I'll be updating with pictures as I go.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Association of Young People with ME gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Just thought I'd add a little section for people who have donated something offline!

Harry Hiscock $100NZ = £38.30
Gemima Mackney $2NZ = £0.79 (Every little helps!)
