This will be a huge challenge - the average Channel swim distance is 26 miles in water temperatures of 15 degrees Centigrade at best, with only goose fat and a pair of Speedos for protection! All the expenses, including the compulsory pilot boat, are already accounted for, so all the money which I raise will go directly to my three chosen charities.
I have chosen Help for Heroes as one of the three charities I'm raising money for because my brother returned safely from his tour of duty in Iraq in December. I would like to help to build the new swimming pool at Headley Court rehabiitation centre which will provide essential hydrotherapy for anyone who returns injured from fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
