Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
When someone close to you contracts something awful like breast cancer it really hits home. Someone really close to me was diagnosed with breast cancer at a very young age of 26!! She is currently in remission and generally in good health. Much respect Ti. Sadly though, not so long ago I lost my sister-in-law to this awful cancer.
Why am I running this marathon?
Firstly, this marathon is taking place on the anniversary of when my sister-in-law was buried, that was all the incentive I needed -what better way to honour her memory!
Secondly, I needed to test my ability by taking my personal fitness seriously. For years I talked about running a marathon but lacked confidence in my ability to take on the challenge. Like anything in life, you’ve got to start somewhere, so I’ve taken a ‘bite size approach’, am running The British 10k run in July before embarking on the half marathon in September.
Last, and by no means least, am running for all those women (who in my opinion are unsung heroes) and their families who have/are fighting a very private battle with breast cancer.
The number of people diagnosed with breast cancer has been consistently increasing year on year. The demand for the service that Breast Cancer Care provides continues to increase. The service this charity provides benefits over 40,000 people every year. Sponsoring me will help them to be able to meet this growing need, so please give generously to this very worthwhile charity.
A massive thank you to all for sponsoring me, it is much appreciated.
