Skydive for UKSA! · 11 March 2009

We empower children and young people to reach their true potential through the power of the sea; by cultivating a positive mindset, developing their vital life skills, broadening their horizons, and offering structured pathways into employment in the maritime industry.

Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page!

On the 6th of June Olly and I will be throwing ourselves out of a plane in the name of charity - an artist representation of how this might look is shown on the left. Its all for a very good cause and will also provide you all with the opportunity to see both of us absolutely bricking it should you want to come down to Salisbury and watch!

We will be jumping for UKSA, a charity dedicated to changing lives through maritime activities.  Their wide ranging work includes helping young and disabled people achieve their full potential through vocational maritime training and inspiring self belief in disadvantaged achildren who have never seen the sea.

Their work is focused in 4 main areas:
  • helping children who would not otherwise have the opportunity to develop key personal and social skills through watersports activities
  • enabling deserving young people embark on training leading to meaningful maritime employment
  • providing assisted funding to people with disabilities to enable them to develop skills and confidence through yachting and watersports
  • providing young people with the opportunity to engage in high performance racing to assist in their personal development through intense challenge.

It costs £338 to enable 1 child to attend a 5 day residential course at UKSA and £66 per child to attend a 1 day course, therefore, the money we raise from the Skydive will be put towards enabling a group of young people (under 24) either disadvantaged or disabled to attend UKSA.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: UK Sailing Academy gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
