My story
Pete Matthews was British Amateur Road Race Champion in 1968 and it still the national Champ in his over 65s age group. On October 2nd at Aintree Race course at 5.30pm Pete will attempt Chris Boardman's 1996 hour record of 56.375 Kms - but using only one leg at a time!
Thanks for all the support last night at Aintree. Peter Matthews is the first world record holder for the Hour one legged! And is distance for the hour was.... Well. That's a secret whilst everyone enjoys still betting on the exact distance. It will be announced in a week or so. You can donate through this page or download a betting slip from www.liverpoolmercury.co.uk and contact Pete on 07968 180313. The closest guess of distance covered in one hour will win £100! Zoe's Place Baby Hospice provides respite and palliative care for babies aged 0-5 with life limiting or life threatening conditions. We make no charge to parents/carers and so the annual running costs (in excess of £1,300,000) must be raised solely through fundraising initiatives and donations.
