My story
Pete Matthews was British Amateur Road Race Champion in 1968 and it still the national Champ in his over 65s age group. On October 2nd at Aintree Race course at 5.30pm Pete will attempt Chris Boardman's 1996 hour record of 56.375 Kms - but using only one leg at a time!
Thanks for all the support last night at Aintree. Peter Matthews is the first world record holder for the Hour one legged! And is distance for the hour was.... Well. That's a secret whilst everyone enjoys still betting on the exact distance. It will be announced in a week or so. You can donate through this page or download a betting slip from www.liverpoolmercury.co.uk and contact Pete on 07968 180313. The closest guess of distance covered in one hour will win £100! PLEASE MAKE YOUR GUESSES AT LEAST 3 DECIMAL PLACES ie: .000 TO MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHARE THE WINNINGS!
Donating through justgiving is simple, fast and totally secure. your details are safe with justgiving - they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure gift aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a uk taxpayer. so it’s the most efficient way to donate - i raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
