I have been given the opportunity to join a BT Team on 27 November 08 to climbMount Kilimanjaro!!! I am not certain if I am of sound mind.....
Mark Biffin, from BT, is taking a team back toAfricato re-visit the Kibera Slums and thought it might be a good idea to take in the summit of Kilimanjaro!
Last year they managed to raise enough money to feed the children for a year and now have a target to provide resources to support the local school.
Although I will be supportting this project myself, I thought it would be a golden opportunity to raise both awareness and monies for the following 2 charities: CRY and ALKAPTONURIA.. At this moment Just Giving web site is unable to support more than one charity at a time.
The ALKAPTONURIA Society is because my mother suffered with this illness throughout her life. Due to its rarity, there was very little medical support. However, I have now found out thatthe UniversityofLiverpool has recently received Lottery Funding to start research to find a cure. She was always such a happy go lucky person and when I reach the top and look at the view she will be on my mind!
I would also like to support the CRY Society (www.c-r-y.org.uk) following Peter Byrne’s illness last year. CRY are desperately try raise awareness as once it is diagnosed it is so simple to cure.
At this moment Just Giving web site is unable to support more than one charity at a time. The main donation on this website is to the Alkaptonuria Society.
However, if you would like to donate to CRY instead please click on the following web link www.justgiving.com/cry
This is the maddest challenge I have ever attempted! Moonwalk and London to Brighton has nothing on this!!!!
Donating through JustGiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, JustGiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support!
