Fundraising for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust

Raising money for The Aplastic Anaemia Trust (AAT) is my way of honouring my daughter Phaedra who lost her fight against the disease 9 years ago. There have been many positives advances in treatments since Phaedra battle with it, but there's still a long way to go.
My dream is that one day the terror and the fear that this disease brings both to sufferers and those who love them will be a thing of the past.On that day gone will be the times when with the passing of each moment we hope for a miracle in the next... that sense of utter helplessness.
Nevertheless , today we have better survival rates from the disease, newer treatments and greater understanding of it.
In July 2004 i will be trekking on Horseback through the Gorkhi Terelj National Park in Mongolia as part of my fundraising effort. Three other charities apart from AAT will benefit from my endeavours.
The trek is being marketed as the challenge of a lifetime.So, believe me when i say that for this 43 year old who only had a dozen horse riding lessons to date that is classic understatement ! There's not a day that goes by when i don't feel like ringing up the organizers and saying 'thanks but no thanks'. I get over it by telling myself that the challenge that i have to be be able to stay on a horse and ride through a park counts as nothing besides the fight that aplastic anaemia sufferers have to stay alive.
