Hello one and all and thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

After the huge success that was 'The Long Drag' which many of you kindly supported last year, we thought it was about time that we did something else.  After much head scratching, and yes we do still have splinters! we decided on this.... Four of us will each paddle an 11ft stand up surf board, known as a sup board from Runcorn to Alrewas, a distance of over 90 miles.   You may ask what skills will we need to do this - balance, co-ordination and a natural ability to stay upright would be good and as none of us possess many of these it should be very interesting paddling those 90+ miles hawaiian style with the depths of the Trent and Mersey canal beckoning. And now for the serious bit.   All the money we raise will go directly to the Royal British Legion. The reason we chose to finish at Alrewas is because it is the site of the National Memorial Arboretum and on finishing we will then visit the memorial site and pay our respects to those service men and women who have been killed in conflict, especially those killed in Afghanistan and Iraq both places of course that we as serving members of the Royal Air Force have worked very recently.

The Royal British Legion's role at this time is increasingly important with so many of our young service people being killed and many, many more being injured currently in Afghanistan.  The work of the Legion is vital in the support of these people and their families who have sacrificed so much for us all and we hope that you share our sentiment in supporting their work and in turn sponsor us.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate -

Thanks for taking the time to read this and thankyou for the donation that you will hopefully be making. Your support is very much appreciated and it will be felt by many, many service people and their families who are serving now or who have retired and are in positions of need, so please dig deep and donate now.  You can follow our exploits on the blog by visiting http://oohhellosailor.blogspot.com which will be updated prior to and during the exercise with photos and details of our preparations and progress. Thanks again for your time and support.
