The Big Walk – or toddle as it came to be known - was a fantastic event. The response was much more than we had anticipated and it was great to have all the kids from the institutions that make up s in together at the St Andrew's International Primary School for the event. It felt like a sports day but with a lot more singing and lots of cakes and cold drinks!
The Foster House kids (5 – 9 years old) managed to run around the sports field three times, the Harrogate House children (3 – 5 years old) walked around twice, and the ladies and babies went around three times singing all the way. The visiting school group from Ashville joined us – the boys running with the older children, and the girls walking with the kids. As we went around we thought of the group of 70 students of in Kirkby Lonsdale who were walking simultaneously in the UK. We closed with a picnic and the foster house children sang songs to all the spectators. The whole morning worked extremely well and it may become an annual event!
Zikomo Kwambiri!
