Story

Nigel Cheek and Colin Windsor from Openreach will be running the Flora London Marathon this year to raise money for I CAN, the children's communication charity. In support of the fundraising, Openreach pledges to match every donation received on this site up to the target of £5,000!

So please give generously and help us make a difference!

Why Children's Communication?

In the same way a journey of a thousand miles starts with the first step, a child's first words and sentences are the foundation for their lifelong communications. They are the platform from which a child builds future relationships, shares experiences and learns.

As the foundation of the British telecommunications industry we are passionate about providing young children the communications skills they need to successfully interact with the world around them as they develop. This is why Openreach supports I CAN.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor Nigel and Colin: I CAN will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Openreach looks after the 'first mile’ - the wires and fibres that connect homes and workplaces to the local telephone exchange, where your Communications Provider's national network takes over.

About the charity

At least 1.9 million children in the UK are struggling to talk and understand words.  We give children and young people the skills they need so they aren't left behind. We do this by creating tools for schools and nurseries, giving advice and guidance to families and putting pressure on politicians.
