Inspired by the dire circumstances a fellow SciFi fan found himself in, I have dedicated myself to fundraising for Action Cancer . They're running a number of sponsored challenges in 2008, and depending on how much money I can raise I plan to complete at least one. I'm planning to complete a sponsored trek, hopefully an ascent of Kilimanjaro . As a build-up I'm going to do some practice hikes, such as Ben Nevis ! I gave some thought as to the best way of raising money. Housewives do cake sales, the Womens' Institute did a nude calendar [and the spin-off movie!] ... I decided to stick with what I know best - Sci-Fi and Fantasy books! Proceeds to CharityThere are many books and DVDs listed on the ORB's Main Page . For every item bought, Fifty Percent of the proceeds will go to the charity fund! My friend is a member of Irish Mensa , and members of the society have offered to help out. If you live in Ireland you might want to donate some old SciFi or Fantasy books, so they can be auctioned on the ORB's Ebay Page . If so, e-mail me .
