We are seeking your support for Oriel ^3, a 100km cycle ride from Oriel (College, ) to Oriel (our offices in the City) by Oriel (staff and family). The ride has been developed by our Charity Committee as a fundraiser and as a team building event and we hope that around a third of our staff will be involved on the day, Sunday 4 October. As you can imagine, precious few of us are serious cyclists and the route is lengthy and strenuous, including a significant climb through the Chilterns and navigating our way back across .
We are raising funds for our chosen local charity, the Blackfriars Settlement, which provides support to the communities of and North Lambeth: http://www.blackfriars-settlement.org.uk/home. It serves the young, the old and the disadvantaged but does not benefit from the high profile of the larger national charities and has to constantly fight for funds to keep its doors open and to prevent scaling back of its invaluable services. We are aiming to raise £10,000, particularly to enable it to continue to run clubs for Older People and for those suffering from Mental Health problems. We would be very grateful if you would help by making a donation.
