Story
Thanks for visiting our lovely fundraising page.
MARCH UPDATE: Two weeks to go and we are nearly there! Just £200 away from our target now, so come on, help us out?! Charlie has a cold at the mo, so isn't running much, so Rob is striding ahead in the training stakes... (He'll just have to carry me if i'm not fit enough - Charlie
). We've got all our gear sorted, handwarmers, thick socks and fleeces...and have just found out there will be showers at a couple of the sheds we will be staying in - Heaven! We're both really looking forward to it... wish us luck!
JANUARY UPDATE: We have now started hardcore training for the Trek - running 2/3 times a week and weights to make sure our backs are strong enough to handle the dogs (Charlie mostly!). It's hard going, but we keep telling ourselves it is good for us! We have also given up drinking and are putting the money we would have spent towards the cause! (how dedicated are we?!). So we have about a grand to go... if 80 of you all gave us a tenner (with gift aid), we'd be there!!! We do really appreciate the support people have given us so far. C'mon... help us reach our target please?????
DECEMBER UPDATE:We have been busy with our raffle and a cake sale held at Vodafone. Raffle tickets are still available to win tickets to two Number 1 top acts at the O2! E-mail me on charlotte.powditch@sky.com if you are interested in taking part in the raffle. We have to get the majority of our money in soon, so we do REALLY need your help in getting those final £££'s....
NOVEMBER UPDATE: Well, we went to our Dog Sled pre-meet last weekend at the Uxbridge Re-homing Centre... It was great to see all the good work the Dogs Trust do... There were so amazingly cute little puppies, but also some bloomin massive scary dogs...which they will probably have to keep there until their demise, as they are too traumatised to be rehomed. Rob is now really looking forward to the trip... it's an adventure! (but Charlie is very scared by the massive kit list and how near we are to the Arctic Circle - eeeek!)
OUR ADVENTURE
After our amazing trip to the Icehotel in Sweden earlier this year, Rob and I are heading back into arctic climates on a 7 day Husky sledding adventure!
We will have to train how to mush and look after the huskies, sleep in log cabins with limited heat and melt snow so we have something to drink. All those who know Charlie, will realise how much of a challenge this will be for HER!
So - our adventure is ultimately to raise money for the Dogs Trust. Between us we need to raise £6,000, plus on top of that we will be training very hard for the next 6 months to be able to handle the running etc we have to do while we are on the trip! (running in a snowsuit could create many funny video moments for You’ve been framed…!).
We will be covering all the costs of flights, accommodation, meals etc on the trip (see money raised offline), so you can rest assured that your donation will go straight to the Dogs Trust….
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dogs Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor us now, we would really, really appreciate it as we have a long way to go!!!
To give you a bit of a breakdown of how it will all work....
We have already paid a £300 deposit each towards the trip (which is not part of the £6000 we have to raise). We also plan to put another £1000 in each to cover most of the costs of the trip itself. All money raised on this site goes to the Dogs Trust....
Lots of love Charlie & Rob
