Story
In April 2012, a 9 year old girl, Martha Payne, started a blog about her school dinners. 8 months later she has raised over £120K for the charity, Mary's Meals. We were both challenged and inspired by this and thought maybe we could do our bit too.
Having watched the film, Child31, together, a few of us felt it was time to re-visit our eating habits and perhaps lose some weight too! We decided we'd sponsor ourselves, get others to do the same and give the proceeds to help feed those who don't have enough to eat; do our bit to redress the balance between those who have plenty and those who go hungry.
It's our way of praying, Give us this day our daily bread, that both those who enjoy much and those without food would be satisfied with enough.
In addition, we've made this a Lent event so that you can join in too! Do the usual giving up chocolate, wine, coffee, etc. and in addition make a donation from what you have saved, to support either Mary's Meals or our other charity, Magic Breakfast.
