When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community.

Story

We are running the Swansea Half Marathon on 26th June, to raise money for two charities, Stroke and Alzheimers, in order to help support people like Evelyn- Hannah, Megan and Emily's Nan, and John, Kate's Dad.

Both John and Evelyn used to be very active; Evelyn used to enjoy walking, swimming and cycling. John was heavily involved with British rowing, and founded the Haberdashers Monmouth School for Girls rowing club, which Kate continues to run. Hannah and Megan were both members of the club and have fond memories of their time there.

However, Evelyn had a stroke last summer, and John is suffering with Alzheimer. Both are now in nursing homes, no longer living the active lives they enjoyed so much.

As people we love it is heartbreaking to see how these illnesses have affected them both, so please give what you can to support the work these charities are doing.

Thank you for your support,

Kate, Hannah, Meg and Emily x
