BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership and the world leader in bird conservation. We believe in a world rich in biodiversity where people and nature live in harmony. We offer that hope for the future of the planet but we need your help to achieve it.

Story

Hello, the Spoon-billed Sandpiper is a small and delightfully charismatic wading bird. It lives in far Eastern Russia and while most of you will never see this animal, it is in dire need of our help. With less than 200 breeding pairs left it is one of the worlds rarest birds and threatened with imminent extinction.

Birdlife International and other charities are committed to preventing this species from being added to a growing list of tragic extinctions.

I intend to climb Mount Teide on the Island of Tenerife in Junuary to help raise money for this important cause. It is the third largest volcano in the world at 12, 198 ft and I will be climbing it solo in winter while its covered in ice, which should be exciting.

Please donate generously, if you'd like to play a part in saving an entire species exsistence.
