Story
At midnight on the night of Saturday September 11th, 2010, we joined 500 nocturnalists to complete the annual Overgate Hospice Midnight Walk; a journey which saw us walking up and down many mountains in central Halifax, through Ovenden at pub-kick-out-time, and braving the turbo-powered taxis travelling along Burnley Road at night-club-kick-out-time.
Along the 13 mile walk we were moistened frequently by the rain at regular intervals, and encountered the usual blisters and aching pieces, but we completed our trip in a reasonable 4 hours 10 minutes.
The Hospice costs £5000 each day to function, and the care that patients attending the Hospice as either an inpatient or attending the day centre receive is absolutely second to none. Top notch, first class, kick ass - it's good.
If our group of five can raise £100 each in sponsorship then we can at least contribute one tenth of the running costs for one day, so all our effort will have helped to make a difference. So please donate generously if you are able to - it's a very worthy cause.
Vicky and Catherine live and work fairly locally, but Sarah, Brian and Rash were our south-yorkshire representatives, having travelled from the Doncaster / Sheffield / Barnsley region to take part in the walk.
