Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce Members Shed the Pounds to Raise Money for Charity
The President of the Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce is being challenged by another of its members - to compete in a weight loss competition, all in aid of raising money for The Grove Hotel, owned and operated by local charity Macmillan Caring Locally.
A member of the Chamber, Steve Brock, owner of Spotcheckers, suggested an exciting and competitive way to raise extra funds for Macmillan Caring Locally to help The Grove provide more holidays for people with Cancer and other life limiting illnesses. Mr Brock will take on Chamber President, Mandy Payne, in a weight loss battle consisting of two teams with themselves as leaders.
Led by specialised trainers, and using Herbalife as a weight loss aid in conjunction with exercise, the two teams will be put through gruelling paces for two months. Herbalife have been manufacturing weight loss aids since the 1980’s and have a large amount of members using their programme to gain maximum efficiency through their products. During the challenge, a system of betting will be formulated to collect sponsorship to determine which team will lose the most weight, with all proceeds being donated to The Grove.
Mandy Payne, President of Bournemouth’s Chamber of Commerce explains, “Thinking of different ways to raise money for charities can be difficult, and sometimes not everybody is agreed on the fundraiser, however, this time everyone is willing to take part. Macmillan Caring Locally and The Grove provide an excellent facility that deserves our support. Steve Brock and I both felt that this is not only a great way to improve health and fitness, but to raise awareness and funding for The Grove.”
Brendan Howard, General Manager of The Grove, is fully behind the initiative: “I am extremely pleased with this idea for fundraising as it is something very different. To have the support from such a key part of the local business community is hugely appreciated. We wish both teams the best of luck in raising as much as possible!”
