Oxford Night Shelter provides direct access, emergency accommodation for 56 homeless people aged 25+ in Oxford. Resettlement support and advice is given, to enable clients to move successfully to sustainable accommodation. Oxford Night Shelter also runs Julian Housing, a second stage move-on project providing 87 former homeless people with accommodation in dispersed housing with support. All money fundraised will go towards emergency welfare items and a variety of training, education and activities for homeless people.

My story
The Oxford Sleep-Out is an annual local community event to raise money
for the homeless charities in Oxford. Currently there are around 250
homeless people living in hostels in Oxford, and around 40 people sleep
rough each month whilst waiting to get into these services.
People from all walks of life get involved to sleep outside for one
night in November at the Oxford Sleep Out. This year's event will be on
Saturday 14th November, when around 100 individuals will be sleeping in
a local churchyard.
The money raised will be distributed by the participating
organisations to the homeless people they work with. The money will be
spent on essential items such as emergency train tickets, clothing,
toiletries, training courses, furniture, bicycles............whatever
it takes to help homeless people rebuild their lives and gain their
independence. None of the money raised will go on staff salaries or
administrative overheads.
This year, the participating agencies are: Emmaus, Gatehouse,
Steppin' Stone, Oxford Night Shelter, Simon House, Lucy Faithfull
House, Elmore Team, Break-through, Substance Misuse Service and the
Gap.
