My story

HELLO!

Thank you for taking the time to view PADDLING OUT's JustGiving page, we really appreciate your support.

The four of us (Alice Ridding, Charlotte Pinder, Francesca Di Palma and Danda Smart) are swimming 2 miles in the sea at Sandbanks beach, Dorset on Saturday 8th September, to raise money for Hope and Homes for Children.

Please view our video here, which will hopefully give you an insight as to what we are doing and why we are doing it.

Hope and Homes for Children (HHC) focus on working with children who have been institutionalised. The charity work to remove the children from the institutions and either reintegrate them back with their biological families, into foster care or lastly, into adoption.

HHC work in 10 different countries in Eastern Europe and Africa.

Initially the choice of charity was made by Danda, who has a very close and personal connection to the work they do. Danda began her life in an institution in Bucharest, Romania and was later adopted at the age of 2 1/2 by an English family.

So many children in this world, are not as fortunate as Danda.

I'm sure you'll agree that giving a child the love and care of a family as Hope and Homes for Children do, is a worthwhile cause to support.

Hope and Homes for Children’s mission is to give hope to the poorest children in the world – those who are orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable – by enabling them to grow up within the love of a family and the security of a home, so they can fulfil their potential. In Central and Eastern Europe, we close orphanages and move children into family-based care whilst developing the services needed to help prevent child abandonment. In Africa, we provide a vital lifeline for families at risk of breakdown due to the pressures of poverty, disease or conflict. We believe that, above all else, every child should live within a loving family environment.
