The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.

Story

Last year I made a promise to a friend to give her something to look forward to whilst in recovery.

The good news is that she's back running & it's time to honour that promise... it's just that the promise happens to be running an ultramarathon and my starting point was 15 and a half stone and 12 weeks of training before the event.

5 weeks of training done with 7 weeks to go, but the training I have to do pales in comparison to the ongoing impact that autism has had on the family of friends & work colleagues who have mentioned those moments of joy but also of how much specialist support is often needed when things aren't going as well.

My hope is that this will help make a real difference to autistic children's and adults’ lives.
