7 Locks 7 Miles 2026 · 12 July 2026 ·

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd are taking on the 7 Locks 7 Miles Great Canal Walk to help raise vital funds for our Hospice. Setting off from the Hospice you will join the Shropshire Union Canal and follow this all the way to the Cheshire Cat.

Story

On the 12th July, myself (Adam) and two of mum's best friends, Claire and Louise will be taking part in the 7 Locks 7 Miles challenge in memory of my mum, Mary.

Mum was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer — Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma with CNS involvement — in August 2024.

We were told what was coming… and from that moment on, everything changed.

After 6 months in hospital, she came home and fought for another 10 months — defying expectations every step of the way.

During that time, the Hospice of the Good Shepherd supported both of us in ways I can’t fully put into words. They made it possible for mum to spend her final months at home, surrounded by the people she loved.

On the 3rd January 2026, we lost her.

Since then, the hospice hasn’t just supported patients — they’ve supported me too. And I know I’m not alone in that.

It’s hard to explain what it’s like living with a terminal diagnosis hanging over someone you love. The constant uncertainty, the questions, the emotional weight… it never really leaves you.

That’s why what they do is so important.

💙 I’m aiming to raise £500 to give something back.

If you’re able to donate — even a couple of pounds — it genuinely makes a difference.

And if you can’t, sharing this would mean just as much. Thank you.
