Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving page.

Following on from last year, our challenge for 2023 is to complete the Virtual London Marathon on the 23rd April 2023, a distance of 26.2 miles in support of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. This will be quite a challenge for ourselves as our total distance in one day has never exceeded the 13.1 miles. A few spare pair of socks and plasters will be required.

We will also be undertaking a 5k, 10k and the Worksop Half marathon.

Other things we're hoping to throw into the mix, are other bits and bobs throughout the year such as the Blue Sky Fashion show in May, Boat pull (Dawn Rose) on the Chesterfield Canal (world's strongest women & men here we come), Raffles, Crafts, Christmas markets, Coffee mornings and much much more. Keep your eyes peeled of what we're up to.

The last couple of years have been bad for all charities, including Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice due to the affects and restrictions of Covid19. Most events have been either cancelled or scaled down impacting greatly on the funds which help to keep the Hospices open and running.

Bluebell Wood have to raise a massive 85% of funds to keep their Charity going with only 15% provided by the Government each year. Every day they need to raise almost £14,000 to keep the Hospice doors open. They are one of only 53 Children's Hospices in the Country offering care and support to parents and their children with a shortened life expectancy. They give families the gift of time with their children to create unforgettable memories.

As part of their care they offer short breaks, end of life treatment and care, emergency admission, counselling, home visits and activity therapy sessions. These are just a few of the wide ranging care services they provide.

Through your sponsorship we are helping them to provide the much needed help and support which families need during the hardest times they will ever have to face.

After visiting the Hospice on many occasions now, it hits home what a truly amazing job they all do and how they rely so much on all the help and support from people like ourselves and you.

If you would like to follow us on our 2023 journey there will be regular updates on our blog on our Facebook page and this site (you can find us on Facebook by searching for Al Nic Jo).

(Since 2013 we have raised an amazing £20,690.28 for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. This wouldn't have been achievable without the help and encouragement of all our supporters for which we are truly grateful)
