Story
Since being diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in September 2022, Active Against Cancer has been a crucial part of my cancer journey. The AAC community offered me a friendly and supportive welcome at a time when I needed it most.
Receiving a cancer diagnosis is devastating and there are many ongoing challenges. However, having access to a free local service that has helped me to stay active, regain my strength and rebuild my confidence throughout treatment and recovery has been invaluable to me not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
It is with immense gratitude to AAC that despite six major surgeries including the creation of an ileostomy I am here and stronger than ever, even though not yet clear of cancer. Attending the classes regularly continues to give me the confidence to stay active and exercise despite having an ileostomy. My ileostomy is affectionately known as Polly and yes you guessed it- she is the inspiration for the name of my fundraising event!
So, this fun fundraiser is my way of saying thank you to them for all they do for me and others.
If you are unable to join us to throw some shapes, sing enthusiastically out of key but would like to support this amazing local cause please make a donation through this page. I guarantee your donation will be put to good use and will help ensure that others like me get access to this life changing service.
With one in two people likely to face cancer in their lifetime, any donation you kindly make is a potential investment in yours, or someone you love's future health.
With warmest wishes and thanks for your kindness and generosity.
Tracey
