Hiro has been on quite a journey.

He came into Cats Protection after his previous owner made the heartbreaking decision to give him up.

Since then, Hiro has faced more challenges than any cat should. He was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, which began months of instability in his health. He went through long spells of not eating, vomiting, and fever. At one point, his face swelled due to a suspected tooth root problem, and he experienced repeated bouts of anaemia that required ongoing monitoring. He endured countless blood tests, scans, and medications while his condition fluctuated, and he ultimately had major thyroid surgery to give him the chance of a stable, healthy future.

Through all of these ups and downs, Hiro never once stopped being gentle, affectionate, and full of heart. His fosterer describes him as “a delight to care for & loving even on his hardest days.”

Hiro is finally recovering. He’s gaining weight, feeling brighter, and ready to begin the peaceful retirement he has fought so hard for.

But his journey has come at a cost. Andover Cats Protection has covered the costs of Hiro’s veterinary treatment, care, medication, blood tests and surgery.
