Story
Hi All
I am sure that this will not come as a surprise to most of you but I am quite partial to putting on my trainers and doing a spot of running and have another madcap idea to raise as much money as we possibly can for Prostate Cancer UK, a charity very close to my heart having lost my amazing Dad to this terrible disease 2 years ago.
To help raise money for this amazing charity, I will be undertaking the London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2026 and attempting to run this in the runners ‘Holy Grail' time of under 3 hours (I will take 2:59:59 btw) but to make this challenge even more challenging, I will then be following up on Monday 27th April 2026 with a run back from London to Margate in Thanet (Hence Mara-Than!)…..just the additional 80 miles to get through and just over 100 miles in total!!
Prostate Cancer has been heavily featured in the news recently, not only for the fact that the UK are paving the way for a screening programme to be rolled out to all men, it has sadly affected the lives of high profile sportsman, celebrities and even the King….cancer is sh*t and does not discriminate.
Whilst this is a male only cancer, every one of us have male figures in their lives (dad, uncle, son, brother, cousin, husband, boyfriend, friend or colleague) who at some point could be affected but early diagnosis could literally save their lives and maybe your own!
The sad statistic is that 1 in 8 men will get Prostate Cancer so take a look around and just consider that….it is a very sobering thought.
I appreciate that everyone knows someone who is doing something amazing for charity but if you could spare any money to help me reach my target of £2,500.00 it would be hugely appreciated and will spur me on in the tough times during these runs….of which there will be many!
Please also share as many times as you can to any individual or business and even if they don’t sponsor, if it raises awareness we have done a great thing.
Thanks for reading and hopefully your donations.
Thanks
Chris.
