Story
Hello 😁
I’m Ashley and I work with respiratory teams in secondary care to help diagnose and monitor lung conditions.
During my daily work, I’ve learned so much, not just about the devices that help diagnose and monitor these conditions, but about the people living with them. I’ve heard patient stories, explored research findings, and gained a deeper understanding of conditions like asthma and COPD. Some of those stories have genuinely stayed with me.
One statistic, in particular, really hit home: on average, four people die from asthma every day in the UK, despite many of those deaths being preventable with the right care. 😔
But what really hit home, is hearing of young children dying from a lung condition that could have been picked up and treated. I hear of stories like this every week in my line of work. With 2 children myself, it’s a parents worse nightmare.
1 in 5 of us will develop a lung condition during our lifetime. There's a new diagnosis every minute.
I'm fundraising for Asthma + Lung UK. They’re the only UK charity that fights for everyone’s right to breathe. Every pound I'm able to raise will take us a step closer to a world where everyone has healthy lungs.
I am a gym junkie and love lifting heavy weights. I wanted to do something more tailored to my interests and preferences… but when I realised the struggle, pain and loss that affects so many children and adults, I thought it made sense to do something I am less comfortable with.
After all, I am lucky I can even run.
Just £24 could support a researcher at the start of their career to carry out an hour of lung health research. I'd be very grateful for any donations you could make!
I know you may be busy, you may be strapped for cash. Yet, £1 donated by all of my followers on social media platforms could equate to over £35k! Can you imagine what that could do collectively?!
Drop what you’re doing right this instance and do something life changing! £1!
