Story
Following a life-changing diagnosis of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome at 21, I applied for an assistance dog from Canine Partners in the hope of regaining my independence. Little did I know just how profoundly my life would change when I was matched with Fliss, an amazing, fluffy, ball-loving Labrador.
Fliss helps me with many physical tasks, including respiratory alerts, getting help, and retrieving medication. She has been by my side through challenging medical emergencies and even helped me create magical memories in Disneyland Paris. Thanks to her, my partner and I could set up a company, Access Your Life, dedicated to supporting others living with disabilities - a dream that once seemed impossible.
Since each partnership costs £50,000 and the charity relies solely on public donations, receiving no government funding, we want to give back to Canine Partners. To help raise funds, we have decided to participate in the 2025 Great North Run. This means Felix will once again be pushing my wheelchair and medical equipment for 13.1 miles.
Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated, as it will help someone else receive a life-changing Canine Partner like Fliss.
Thank you for your support, Lauren, Felix & Fliss 🐾
