Carrie's second cycle challenge

Carrie Thould is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support
In memory of my mum and my brother, Dave

Virtual cycle challenge · 11 April 2026

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

Further to the success of my virtual cycling challenge last April, I will be taking on another one for 2026. This time, I will be cycling from my home in Cam to St Fagans National Museum of History in Cardiff (which used to be called The Museum of Welsh Life). I have chosen this museum as my destination because my parents took me there several times as a child and it was good, especially because it’s very interactive and therefore more interesting for me because it is a multi-sensory experience.

The total cycling distance is 57 miles and I will cycle this over 6 days, doing 9 miles a day from Monday to Friday and then 12 miles on the final Saturday, when I will hold a fundraising event.

I would like to give the proceeds from the event to Macmillan Cancer Support. This is because when my mum and brother were ill, Macmillan were a great help to them. I would like to support them partly as a thank you and partly to enable the charity to support more people in the future, although it is sad that this is necessary.
