Christine's fundraiser for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR)

This year, I’m raising funds for One More City in memory of my father, James O'Connell. who passed away from cancer in July.
I founded One More City in 2018 after being diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. What started as a ride between two cities has grown into a global campaign supporting research into secondary breast cancer.
My dad supported One More City from the very beginning. He encouraged me at every stage and helped me think about how to make the greatest impact.
He taught me how to ride a bike and—unbelievably—may have owned more bikes than I do. He was especially proud of his collection of vintage Raleighs. I’ll be thinking of him a lot on this year’s ride.
One More City is an annual cycling campaign that moves from city to city, starting where the previous year’s ride finished. Since 2018, we’ve raised over $500,000 for secondary breast cancer research.
The ethos of One More City is that the journey is never over. There are always more kilometres to ride, more climbs to conquer, more challenges to face. That mirrors the experience of living with cancer—especially secondary cancer—where there are always more treatments, more scans, and more uncertainty.
If you'd like to support this year’s campaign and donate in memory of my father, your contribution would mean a great deal.
Thank you.
