Story
This year Rebecca, Jan and Chris are raising money for Marie Curie in memory of Christine Rhodes, who passed away April 2023 after her battle with Pancreatic cancer. She was a wonderful mum, sister and friend to us, who is dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
We will be taking part in the Snowdon night trek on the 29th June 2024. Chris loved spending time in Wales and would visit family there as often as she could so it felt right to sign up for this trek for Marie Curie and the wonderful people who offer support in times of need.
Why we chose to fundraise for Marie Curie.
When we were told Chris had only a few days at most, we didn't want to leave her alone. We were offered support from Marie Curie. A wonderful nurse called Kay sat with Chris during her last 3 nights, enabling us to sleep knowing Chris was being well cared for and that Kay would wake us if needed.
This support made all the difference in us being able to give our all emotionally and physically over Chris' last few days. It was unbelievably amazing that this support from Marie Curie was offered. We will be forever grateful.

Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone. And we push for a better end of life for all by campaigning and sharing research to change the system.
