Story
Husband to Celia, Dad to Jane and Gill, Grandad to his three ACEs: Alice, Charlotte and Erin, Brother to Geoffrey, Friend to all.
We lost him dizzyingly fast. Our heads are still spinning with the why and the how. And we’re still coming to terms with the unfairness of it all.
We will never know how the cancer started. Dad was still running and climbing hills at Christmas. He was diagnosed with extensive metastatic cancer just seven weeks later, after experiencing back pain.
He died at Severn Hospice in Telford on 12th March only four weeks after his diagnosis.
How to celebrate a man that didn't like a fuss?
Colin didn’t want a funeral. He didn’t want flowers.
He did want to thank Severn Hospice, where he experienced great kindness and security during his last three weeks.
Dad felt safe there, and they treated him with such dignity and respect. The warmth and compassion shown by everyone at the hospice was a privilege to witness. It takes a special kind of person to work at a hospice. Genuine dedication and care was evident in everything the staff and volunteers did.
We would like to sincerely thank everyone at Severn Hospice from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget the support they gave us as a family.
We’ve set up this fundraising page for Severn Hospice, in Dad’s memory.
Please use this page to share memories and donate in lieu of flowers. We would find great comfort in hearing your memories of Colin. He was such a no nonsense, kind and caring man, and we were lucky to call him ours.
Thank you all for your kindness and friendship.
