Story
On Sunday 22nd March, I’ll be running the 10K at the Wilmslow Running Festival to raise money for Visyon, a charity that provides life-changing mental health support to children and young people.
This charity is more than just somewhere that I work. I completed my placement with Visyon as a student counsellor, and I’m now incredibly proud to work within the team as a Young Person’s Counsellor and part of the Initial Contact Team. Every single day I see the courage it takes for young people and their families to reach out for help, and the powerful difference the right support can make.
My passion for this work is deeply personal, rooted throughout my own lived voice. When you’re young and unsupported, life can feel heavy and confusing.
I know how hard it is to feel alone in systems that are supposed to support you. When you’re already struggling, feeling unheard or misunderstood can deepen that isolation. So many children and young people today face extensive and unparalleled challenges: academic pressure, social media, bullying, family difficulties, identity struggles, neurodiversity, and a world that often feels overwhelming and uncertain. And they face it daily.
I promised to become the person I needed when I was younger, someone who sees the difference as strength, who listens without judgement, and who reminds young people that they are not broken. Being able to now support these incredible children, young people, and their families is an honour thatI don’t take lightly.
Visyon completely reignited my passion for counselling. The compassion, dedication, and genuine care within this charity is something truly special. My whole team are truly wonderful and the difference they make is unparallel!
Every donation, no matter the size, will help ensure that more young people don’t have to struggle alone. No young person should ever feel that being different or unable to cope means being alone, and every young person deserves someone in their corner.
Thank you so much for supporting me!!! and for supporting the young people who deserve to feel seen, heard, and understood. GO TEAM VISYON 🤍
